What is Spiritual Awakening?
A spiritual "awakening" is said to occur when someone experiences a moment or series of moments of clarity in which a new insight or understanding is gained. When this new inner-awareness unfolds, the experiences of one's life is seen differently, and new possibilities are opened and changes in patterns of thought, emotions, and behavior soon occur.
A spiritual awakening also provides the sudden desire towards avoiding or pursuing personal growth that will bring about new levels of psychological and spiritual maturity in the person who experiences this metaphysical state of awareness.
The States of Metaphysical awareness, which are commonly called Spiritual Awakening and Enlightenment are the primary goals of almost all spiritual practices, traditions and religions as well as for any person who is a spiritual seeker. There are many names for these awakened States of Consciousness, depending on what culture and spiritual tradition you belong to.
At times we can experience a "crisis of the soul". It can occur after a loved one has died, or something occurs in our own life that makes us fearful of dying [or living].
Sometimes we can feel estranged from our own religious beliefs and feel drawn to another belief system that is very different from our original beliefs. Through psychospiritual therapy you can be assisted to focus on and better listen to the voice of your changing inner-wisdoms.
You'll be assisted to better understand how and why you became disconnected from your original beliefs and to decide on a course of self-discovery about your inner "pull" to better know about other spiritual systems.
You'll be assisted to mindfully understand and honor your current dissatisfaction, fears, hopes or desires and to establish a grounded sense of inner-peace about your own choices and decisions about to how you will explore or act on your current interest in learning more about revitalizing your old beliefs or practicing another spiritual belief/ path.

Ok. So What is Spiritual Growth?
Spiritual Growth can be any of the following:
- To find the deeper meaning and purpose of life.
- To find your Higher Self.
- To move beyond the Self-limiting ego self.
- To become a better person.
- To become a greater person.
- To become a socially responsible person.
- To become spiritually awakened.
- To become spiritually enlightened.
For a womin™ to grow spiritually in a world defined by power, money influence and modern distractions [such as electronic gadgets, media entertainment such as television, magazines, and the web which have predisposed many of us to limit our day-to-day attention mainly to our physical needs and wants] can be very challenging.
As a result of so many material distractions, our concepts of self-worth and self-meaning are often muddled or misguided; leaving us confused about how we can strike a real balance between the media and entertainment driven materialism and the essential, inner-directed spiritual aspects of our lives.
Spiritual Growth is the way to mindfully develop your Life Purpose potential by searching for spiritual meaning and living your life in accordance with that inner-realized purposeful meaning.
Many religions or spiritual traditions teach, in one way or another, that the purpose of the humin life is to recognize that we are connected to a Universal Consciousness greater than ourselves.
Several theories in psychology also propose that in order to remain free of mental illness that we ultimately need to give meaning to our lives.
Whether we believe that our life's meaning is pre-determined or self-directed, to grow spiritually typically means we come to realize that we do not merely exist, that we are interconnected to a greater whole than our separate physical selves.
Looking Inside As A First Step to Spiritual Growth . . .
Most of us learn our sense of purpose through our families, religious traditions or from a deep sense of intuitive inner-knowing. As we grow to discover this deeper meaning, there are certain beliefs and values that we reject and affirm.
Our lives have purpose. And this purpose puts all our physical, emotional, and intellectual potentials into use; sustains us during trying times; and gives us something to look forward toa goal to achieve, a destination to reach, a day-to-day sense of peace. It has been said that a person without purpose or meaning is like a drifting ship at sea.
Most spiritual traditions teach us that regularly going within is an important step in spiritual growth. But it should be remembered that mindful/ spiritual introspection means more than a simple recalling and review of the things that occurred in a day, week, or month of your life. It means looking closely and mindfully reflecting on the intent and meaning of your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations.
Most spiritual teachings advance that spiritual growth requires your periodically examining your experiences, the decisions you make, the relationships you have, and the behaviors and things which you regularly engage in ~ so that they might provide you with useful insights about your life goals, your character inner-strengths and the most proactive ways to use them.
" . . . The Truth that sets us free is often the one we don't want to hear . . ." ~ Unknown
Spiritual growth helps you to find moral clues on how you might act, react, and conduct yourself in alignment with your spiritual teachings in the midst of any situation. Like any skill, mindful / spiritual introspection can be learned; all it takes is the courage and willingness to seek the deeper truths which lie deep within you, either on your own or with the help of a spiritual teacher.
Here are some pointers on being mindfully introspective:
Remember that spiritual growth is a process -- to grow in spirit is a day-to-day process. Many traditions stress the nature of our relatedness to all creation, living and inanimate. In psychology, connectedness is a characteristic of self-transcendence, the highest humin need according to Maslow's, hierarchy of needs.
Recognizing your connection to all things makes you more humble and respectful of others--people, animals, plants, and all that exists in nature. It helps you to sincerely appreciate -- not only the sacredness of your own unique energetic being--but also the sacredness of everyone and everything around you.
Spiritual growth compels you to venture beyond your own comfort zone to mindfully reach out to others; and to become respectful and harmonious with all others. When this harmonious state is created through a series of Transpersonal ReShape™ SheChange(tm) tools and actions ~ designed to help you to develop an energetically grounded self-awareness of SheInspired Being(tm) within and without ~ we call this State, SistahPeaceful WellBalance(tm).
The following excerpt from the Autobiography in Five Chapters from The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying sheds a [now popularized] light on the meaning of spiritual growth:
"1. I walk down the street
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost, I am hopeless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
2. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place again.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes long time to get out.
3. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in it's a habit
My eyes are open
I know where I am
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
4. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I walk around it.5. I walk down another street . . ."
